Cormac Friel
Beverley Hills Pancake BitchAs a kid, Cormac was told the world was his oyster. As an adult, Cormac lives in ex-council Leeds housing and cannot afford an oyster. Come hear how an encounter with a waitress on LA’s Rodeo Drive caused him to reassess his life, lower his expectations and cry like a sissy.
Rob Mulholland and Monty Burns
Two of the fastest rising comics in the North of England and bring their debut Edinburgh appearance to the Free Festival this year. An anarchic onslaught of belly laughs from a Scottish drunk and a Yorkshire stoner as they tear apart their personal failings, shambolic lives and each other. A show packed full of laughter, wit and unexpected surprises!cheers lads
Monty is an anarchic, manic presence, bringing rapid-fire wit in a high-energy, punchline heavy style.
Rob is a very tall Yorkshireman with an odd mind. His style is a mixture of verbally dextrous polemic, intimate confession and dumb jokes about olives.

THURSDAY 19TH – AWAY WITH WORDS
Jim Higo hosts his monthly spoken word extravaganza.(3rd Thursday of the month).
Open mic poetry, comedy & theatre with special guest poets:
Henry Raby – performance poet, theatre-maker and play-wright. Henry has performed across the country at various gigs, poetry nights, festivals and arts events, as well as touring his solo show. Recurring themes in his writing are friendship, home, growing up and dinosaurs.

Jenn Hart – DIY poet, feminist and self-proclaimed wizard. An Archimedes Screw champion and Ejector Seat slam champion 2013, she has performed at various poetry events in the South including Apples and Snakes ’451′, Freeway Poets and Archimedes Screw as well as festivals such as Boomtown Fair, PULSE and Galtres.
Jenn has supported bands like Petrol Girls, Will Tun and the Wasters, Chris Clavin and performed at Fishstock, Roomtown and Anti-fascist fundraisers.
In June 2014, she released her first collection in a DIY zine form called ‘Scraped Knees and Sob Stories’ available on bandcamp. Jenn also plays bass for feminist punk/blues band Viva Zapata!

A documentarian and a reporter travel to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with Edward Snowden.

THURSDAY 26TH – ROOTS AND WINGS NOURISHMENT SESSIONS
Nourishment sessions are an intimate series of monthly events of creative sharings for Hull’s makers, thinkers and creative tinkers.
National, local and international arts practitioners are poised to come and share invaluable nuggets of mindfood and future collaborative possibilities.
Due to limited seating capacity nourishment sessions will be ticketed.
Roots and Wings is a ten year programme of cultural transformation by, for and with the people of Hull. Focusing on the least engaged, and with the highest cultural aspirations, we seek to achieve no less than a new blueprint for a truly people-led city-wide arts offer, offering enrichment, participation, challenge, personal and professional development, within a dynamic and sustainable cultural economy
